  1. 2001-06-25 Pavel Roskin <proski@gnu.org>
  2. * cpio.c: Include <config.h> before everything else.
  3. * direntry.c: Likewise.
  4. * fish.c: Likewise.
  5. * ftpfs.c: Likewise.
  6. * local.c: Likewise.
  7. * tar.c: Likewise.
  8. * utilvfs.h: Don't include <config.h> - it should be included
  9. in all C files instead.
  10. * xdirentry.h: Likewise.
  11. 2001-06-19 Pavel Roskin <proski@gnu.org>
  12. * local.c (local_telldir): Warn and abort if telldir() is not
  13. available.
  14. (local_seekdir): Warn and abort if seekdir() is not available.
  15. 2001-06-18 Pavel Roskin <proski@gnu.org>
  16. * tcputil.c (sig_pipe): Use the same declaration with one int
  17. argument - it's used everywhere else and it fixes a warning on
  18. systems unlisted in the ifdef, e.g. OpenBSD.
  19. 2001-06-14 Pavel Roskin <proski@gnu.org>
  20. * ftpfs.c: Declare functions without declarations static. Don't
  21. omit `void' in declarations.
  22. * cpio.c: Likewise.
  23. * direntry.c: Likewise.
  24. * extfs.c: Likewise.
  25. * mcfs.c: Likewise.

  32. compilers.
  33. 2001-06-11 Pavel Roskin <proski@gnu.org>
  34. * cpio.c (vfs_cpiofs_ops): Use short name for the filesystem.

  38. * fish.c (vfs_fish_ops): Likewise.
  39. * ftpfs.c (vfs_ftpfs_ops): Likewise.

  389. 2000-04-28 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  390. * direntry.c (vfs_s_internal_stat): added ugly special case for /
  391. of archive to always exist. It seems I'm hiding some underlying
  392. problem :-(.
  393. 2000-04-26 Andrew V. Samoilov <sav@bcs.zp.ua>
  394. * direntry.c (vfs_s_find_entry_tree): segfault fixed when root is NULL
  395. (vfs_s_new_inode, vfs_s_new_entry): g_new replaced by g_new0
  396. * ftpfs.c (dir_load): ent->name is free()d for "." and ".."
  397. (ftpfs_directory_timeout): default value changed to 900
  398. (netrc_next): "const char * const keywords" go to rodata and is shared
  399. 2000-04-16 Pavel Machek <pavel@bug.ucw.cz>
  400. * vfs.c (vfs_type): FL_NO_LOCALHASH for prevention of obscure
  401. deadlocks with podfuk
  402. * direntry.c: fix behaviour when stating / directory of ftp
  403. archive
  404. 2000-04-15 Timur Bakeyev <mc@bat.ru>
  405. * ftpfs.c (netrc_next): "const char * keywords" is pretty nice.
  406. * ftpfs.c (dir_load): At last, found place, that broke handling
  407. directories with spaces in name. Problem was in prepending "/"
  408. to "." for current directory. Which was, obviously, wrong. Hacked
  409. to make just "LIST -la ." instead.
  410. 2000-04-12 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  411. * extfs/lslR.in: Patch by tnovak@ipex.cz: allow spaces in filenames
  412. 2000-04-10 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  413. * extfs/audio: Added a way to browse audio CDs conviently
  414. * undelfs.c: use NULLs instead of 0s when you assign to pointers!
  415. 2000-04-05 Andrew V. Samoilov <sav@bcs.zp.ua>
  416. * utilfs.c (vfs_split_url): don't assign *pass if pass is NULL
  417. * fish.c (archive_open, archive_same): memory allocated by
  418. vfs_split_url () must be released after use, don't strdup()
  419. values allocated by vfs_split_url () and NULL passed to
  420. vfs_split_url () when password value is unused
  421. * ftpfs.c (archive_open, archive_same): ditto plus same for
  422. ftpfs_get_proxy_host_and_port ()
  423. 2000-04-06 Timur Bakeyev <mc@bat.ru>
  424. * ftpfs.c (netrc_next): Turned strange "const char * const keywords"
  425. into more alike "const char const * keywords". Still, think, it's
  426. too strict.
  427. * smbfs.c: Add #define BOOL_DEFINED before inclusion of samba headers.
  428. Libncurses(or slang?) defines BOOL and that can cause problems. (In fact,
  429. I can't find references to that const, but sure, I hade reason to do that:)
  430. * util-alone.h: Declare load_anon_passwd() to avoid warnings.
  431. 2000-03-31 Andrew V. Samoilov <sav@bcs.zp.ua>
  432. * vfs.c (mc_def_getlocalcopy): free() replaced by g_free() to prevent
  433. crushes with mad, thanks to Timur I. Bakeyev <timur@bat.ru>
  434. * fish.c (linear_start): name wasn't freed after usage
  435. * cpio.c (cpio_ungetlocalcopy): return type changed to int,
  436. function return 0 now
  437. * direntry.c (vfs_s_close, vfs_s_resolve_symlink): memory, allocated
  438. by vfs_s_fullpath () is freed after use
  439. * ftpfs.c (linear_start): ditto;
  440. 2000-04-03 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  441. * ftpfs.c (send_ftp_command): return from vfs_s_get_path_mangle is
  442. not strdupped(), so it must not be g_free'd.
  443. 2000-03-29 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  444. * fish.c: Patch by <rebel@atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>: make
  445. fish work better with files files like "this is sentence"
  446. 2000-03-28 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  447. * extfs/*rpm: Patch by <rebel@atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>: set
  448. locale to C so that rpm does not confuse us
  449. 2000-03-06 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  450. Patch by Andrew V. Samoilov <sav@bcs.zp.ua>
  451. * vfs.c (vfs_parse_ls_lga): don't hard code st_ino and st_dev to 0's,
  452. these variables must be assigned in vfs_s_new_inode () or extfs
  453. layer, so ftpfs subdirectories now can be copied.
  454. 2000-02-25 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  455. Patch by Andrew V. Samoilov <sav@bcs.zp.ua>
  456. * vfs.[ch] (vfs_canon, mc_open, vfs_file_is_local,
  457. mc_(un)?getlocalcopy): added const qualifier
  458. (mc_def_getlocalcopy): tempnam() returns malloc()ed buffer,
  459. so, free() it, not g_free();
  460. (vfs_canon): prepend filename by cwd when tilde '~' cannot be expanded;
  461. 2000-02-23 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  462. * cpio.c: cpio.h is missing, so don't try to include it. (It is
  463. not needed, anyway. Strange.)
  464. * Makefile.in (NONETFILES): cpio added to compilation list
  465. 2000-02-23 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  466. * ftpfs.c: Definition of PORT changed in the middle of ftpfs.c
  467. with unexpected side effects (only when HSC_PROXY was
  468. defined). Introduce HSC_PROXY_PORT and FTP_COMMAND_PORT and use
  469. where appropriate.
  470. (dir_load): Do not hard code the directory cache timeout to 10
  471. seconds. Instead use the setting from Options/Virtual VFS ...
  472. * fish.c (file_store): honour changed semantics for return value
  473. (on error -1 is expected).
  474. * ftpfs.c (file_store): dito
  475. 2000-02-22 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  476. * cpio.c: added. Thanx to Jan Hudec <bulb@centrum.cz>, who wrote
  477. it using code from tarfs.
  478. 2000-02-21 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  479. * extfs/uzip.in (nam): y2k fixes (workarounds) by
  480. christian.gennerat@vz.cit.alcatel.fr
  481. 2000-02-04 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  482. * ftpfs.c (ftpfs_unlink, *): prepend / so that it actually works
  483. 2000-02-03 Andrew V. Samoilov <sav@bcs.zp.ua>
  484. * xdirentry.h: added prototype for vfs_s_retrieve_file
  485. 2000-01-31 Andrew V. Samoilov <sav@bcs.zp.ua>
  486. * direntry.c: (vfs_s_resolve_symlink, vfs_s_readlink) fixed segfaults
  487. for broken symlinks like 2001 -> The Space Oddysea.
  488. 2000-01-24 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  489. * ftpfs.c: vfs semantics has some problems with ~s. What will
  490. happen if we just don't go to home directory of user? (We used to
  491. have /#ftp:hobit/~/ mean home directory of anonymous at
  492. hobit. Thats pretty broken.)
  493. * direntry.c (vfs_s_find_entry_linear): don't sleep after showing
  494. message
  495. * ftpfs.c: cosmetic fixes by Andrew V. Samoilov
  496. 2000-01-18 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  497. * ftpfs.c: cosmetic fixes + killed ugly infinite loop, patch
  498. from Andrew V. Samoilov
  499. 2000-01-13 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  500. * extfs.c (extfs_chdir): removed unneeded statment, plus applied
  501. cosmetics fixes from Andrew V. Samoilov
  502. 2000-01-02 Martin Bialasinski <martin@internet-treff.uni-koeln.de>
  503. * extfs/deb.in: Change to the deb vfs. tar has changed, and
  504. depending on the version, it saves files as "./filename" or
  505. "filename".
  506. * From debian: added deba, debd, dpkg, apt script file systems.
  507. 1999-12-28 Andrew V. Samoilov <sav@bcs.zp.ua>
  508. * vfs.c (vfs_parse_filedate): don't decode last columns as year
  509. 1999-12-21 Pavel Roskin <pavel_roskin@geocities.com>
  510. * vfs/vfs.h: use #warning only for gcc. Not all compilers
  511. understand it
  512. 1999-12-15 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  513. * Merged changes by Andrew V. Samoilov <sav@bcs.zp.ua>. They are
  514. mostly internationalization + fixing stupid bugs of mine
  515. 1999-12-08 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  516. * ftpfs.c: basically replaced ftpfs with new one. Unlike the
  517. previous one, this uses new direntry.c layer, so shared_ftp_fish.c
  518. can be killed.
  519. This is new code, so beware.
  520. 1999-11-11 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  521. * shared_ftp_fish.c (s_ungetlocalcopy): need to supply some return
  522. value, too. This code is going to be killed, the sooner the better.
  523. * *.c (mc_[un]getlocalcopy): we really need some return value,
  524. because we can have errors
  525. * fish.c: don't use directory expiration, it does not work,
  526. use retrieve_file from direntry.c
  527. 1999-02-17 Pavel Machek <pavel@bug.ucw.cz>
  528. * direntry.c (vfs_s_getlocalcopy): fixed segfault, getlocalcopy's
  529. name has to be malloced.
  530. 1999-10-07 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@gnu.org>
  531. * ftpfs.c (linear_read): Applied patch from Alexander V. Lukyanov
  532. <lav@yars.free.net> that makes the code compliant to RFC959
  533. 1999-08-30 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@gnu.org>
  534. * ftpfs.c (insert_dots): Use g_new here.
  535. * shared_ftpfs_fish.c: Style fixes and small fixes
  536. 1999-09-22 Bjorn Eriksson <mdeans@algonet.se>
  537. * extfs/uzip.in: Better handling of zip-archives that contain files
  538. which contain spaces.
  539. 1999-09-19 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  540. * ftpfs.c (ftpfs_set_debug), vfs.h: added const qualifier.
  541. * mcserv.c: removed definition of mad_strconcat which is also
  542. in mad.c.
  543. 1999-09-17 Federico Mena Quintero <federico@redhat.com>
  544. * smbfs.c: #define NO_CONFIG_H before including the samba
  545. includes; this way it will not re=define HAVE_LIBREADLINE. This
  546. situation sucks. Should we change the names of the widget.h
  547. history_*() functions?
  548. 1999-09-14 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  549. * smbfs.c (various places): Store filenames in memory with the unix
  550. character set and convert it back to the dos character set when
  551. filenames are passed back to the samba server. If samba is configured
  552. correctly this will fix the problems with filenames which contain
  553. national characters.
  554. (bucket_set_authinfo): Set domain, username and password which will
  555. be used to log on and authenticate against the samba server and remember
  556. this information on a host/share basis. If set use PASSWD to get the
  557. password. If already authenticated against the host and share use this
  558. information. If already authenticated against host and IPC$ use this
  559. information. If neither of the former is true ask the user how to
  560. log on.
  561. (authinfo_get_authinfo_from_user): New function. Query the user for
  562. domain, username and password to use for authentication.
  563. (authinfo_free): New function. Free memory in authentication structure.
  564. (authinfo_free_all): New function. Free the list used to remember
  565. authentication information.
  566. (authinfo_compare_host_and_share, authinfo_compare_host): New functions.
  567. Helper functions used to search the authentication list.
  568. (authinfo_add): New function. Add one authentication entry to the
  569. authlist.
  570. (authinfo_remove): New function. Remove one entry from the authlist.
  571. (free_bucket): Free memory associated with one bucket.
  572. (smbfs_get_free_bucket): Initialize the complete connection array
  573. with 0. Free the memory allocated for a bucket and initialize the
  574. bucket before reusing it.
  575. (smbfs_open_link): use new functions to get authentication information
  576. (get_stat_info, smbfs_stat): remove unused variables.
  577. 1999-08-31 Federico Mena Quintero <federico@redhat.com>
  578. * extfs/uzip.in: Handle filenames with spaces better. Thanks to
  579. Spyridon Papadimitriou <Spyridon_Papadimitriou@gs91.sp.cs.cmu.edu>
  580. for the patch.
  581. 1999-08-30 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  582. * ftpfs.c (translate_path): Remove static buffer from here.
  583. Return a strdupped string now.
  584. (send_ftp_command): Release translate_path result here.
  585. (open_data_connection): Release translate_path result here.
  586. (ftpfs_chdir_internal): Reease it here too.
  587. 1999-08-30 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  588. * shared_ftp_fish.c (get_line): Fixed off by one error ('\0' might
  589. have been written one slot past the supplied character array).
  590. * ftpfs.c (resolve_symlink_without_ls_options): Don't dump core on
  591. strange symlinks (ls -la doesn't reveal where the symlink points to
  592. and ls -lLa doesn't resolve the symlink either)
  593. Added protection against recursive symbolic links.
  594. 1999-08-19 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  595. * smbfs.c: added missing include file
  596. (browsing_helper): use g_strdup instead of g_new + pstrcpy
  597. (Btw. this is an example why the handholding of smblib gives a
  598. false security feeling. pstrcpy limits the number of characters
  599. copied and is used with a buffer which is smaler than the hard
  600. coded limit in pstrcpy)
  601. (loaddir_helper): ditto
  602. (server_browsing_helper): ditto
  603. (get_remote_stat): fixed memory leaks
  604. (smbfs_loaddir): ditto
  605. (get_stat_info): ditto
  606. (smbfs_stat): ditto
  607. (convert_path): rewritten, now it's much cleaner what it does.
  608. This rewrite was necessary because gcc -O2 choked on glibc 2.1
  609. systems. In that combination strncat is a macro which expands to
  610. strlen and strcat and in vfs/samba/include/includes.h the latter is
  611. defined to __ERROR__XX__NEVER_USE_STRCAT___;.
  612. 1999-08-18 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  613. * direntry.c (vfs_s_getlocalcopy): There's an aditional strdup
  614. needed. In rare cases a pointer was freed twice. Pavel Machek
  615. pointed this out a while ago but obviously it hasn't been fixed yet.
  616. * sfs.c (vfmake): Quote characters with a special meaning to the
  617. shell in filenames/-pathes (Fix Bug #1931, VFS will not work if
  618. your full path has the space character in it.).
  619. 1999-08-17 Kjartan Maraas <kmaraas@online.no>
  620. * fish.c: Fix typo.
  621. 1999-08-15 David Martin <dmartina@usa.net>
  622. * vfs.c (vfs_print_stats): Translate vfs stats
  623. * shared_ftp_fish.c (s_read, s_lseek): Mark strings for translation
  624. * fish.c: Translate messages
  625. 1999-08-06 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  626. * tar.c (read_header): Don't segfault when a symlink points to the
  627. root directory.
  628. 1999-08-01 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  629. * vfs.c: Don't close a function definition with "};". SunCC from
  630. 2.5.1 chokes on the extra semicolon
  631. (mc_munmap): Don't dereference function pointer when checking for
  632. NULL (this check is supposed to prevent a segfault instead of
  633. causing one). This haven't got noticed up to now becaue there's no
  634. file system with mmap but without munmap.
  635. Tue Jul 6 11:22:40 1999 Timur I. Bakeyev <mc@bat.ru>
  636. * samba/include/config.h: Removed. Should be generated.
  637. Tue Jul 6 11:18:45 1999 Timur I. Bakeyev <mc@bat.ru>
  638. * Make-mc.in(XCPPFLAGS): Add necessary paths to allow compile sambafs
  639. when builddir != srcdir. Removed some junk after not coherent patching.
  640. 1999-07-04 Federico Mena Quintero <federico@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  641. * Make-mc.in (distcopy): Added a bunch of new lists of files for
  642. the directories in vfs/samba. Use them in this rule, because
  643. plain wildcards will not work right.
  644. (SAMBA_DIST_TOPLEVEL): Added configure to the list of distributed
  645. files.
  646. Added smbfs.[ch] to the list of sources.
  647. 1999-07-02 Tuomas J. Lukka <lukka@iki.fi>
  648. * Make-mc.in: $SAMBAFILES -> @SAMBAFILES@ in the rule
  649. as well as the dependencies.
  650. 1999-06-25 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  651. * smbfs.c (get_remote_stat): Change debug level.
  652. (get_stat_info): 2 line fixes from Wayne to check the
  653. cache properly. WOOOOHOOOO! Works like a charm.
  654. 1999-06-14 Wayne Roberts <wroberts1@cx983858-b.orng1.occa.home.com>
  655. * vfs/smbfs.c: New file. Implements the Samba-based file system.
  656. * vfs/vfs.h: Declare vfs_smbfs_ops, vfs_file_is_smb.
  657. * vfs/vfs.c (vfs_file_is_smb): implemented.
  658. (vfs_init) register smbfs.
  659. * vfs/samba: Incorporate SAMBA source code required for smbfs
  660. Fri Jun 18 11:49:05 1999 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  661. * ftpfs.c (resolve_symlink_with_ls_options): Some ftp servers don't
  662. make a difference between "LIST -la" and "LIST -lLa". If we find such
  663. a server don't use -lLa when resolving symbolic links.
  664. 1999-05-12 Christian GENNERAT <christian.gennerat@alcatel.fr>
  665. * urar.in, uzip.in: patches to use in #urar and #uzip the new features
  666. added in mc-4.5.31 (unlink, mkdir, rmdir)
  667. 1999-04-30 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  668. * extfs/deb.in (mcdebfs_run): Quote string properly, fix suggested
  669. by debian mantainer
  670. 1999-04-25 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  671. * extfs/uzip.in (nam): Handle new unzips.
  672. Fri Apr 23 21:02:32 1999 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  673. * ftpfs.c (retrieve_dir): If we don't get any valid directory entry
  674. (i.e. not even "." and "..") check whether the directory is empty
  675. or not existend (instead of failing with "ftpfs: failed").
  676. 1999-04-23 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  677. * vfs.c (vfs_parse_filemode): fix for solaris which uses 'l'
  678. instead of 'S'.
  679. (vfs_parse_ls_lga): do not silently ignore parsing errors.
  680. Wed Apr 21 21:59:50 1999 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  681. * extfs.c (extfs_open): tempnam returns a malloced string, no need
  682. to strdup it
  683. (various places): use free instead of g_free to free string returned
  684. by tempnam.
  685. 1999-04-21 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  686. * urar.in, uzip.in: rolled in patches from "christian.gennerat"
  687. <christian.gennerat@vz.cit.alcatel.fr> for better handling of
  688. spaces and copyin-feature-addon.
  689. 1999-04-18 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  690. * extfs.c (get_path_from_entry): Fix a crash here.
  691. 1999-04-12 Andrew T. Veliath <andrewtv@usa.net>
  692. * extfs.c (extfs_unlink):
  693. (extfs_mkdir):
  694. (extfs_rmdir):
  695. (remove_entry): New functions.
  696. (vfs_extfs_ops): Add unlink, mkdir and rmdir functions to table.
  697. Add descriptions for these to the extfs README.
  698. 1999-04-12 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  699. * Make-mc.in (DISTVFS): try to distribute files needed for
  700. building libvfs.so alone
  701. (EXTFS_MISC): include uarj and unarj.diff in distribution
  702. 1999-04-08 Owen Taylor <otaylor@redhat.com>
  703. * extfs/deb.in extfs/ulha.in extfs/ucpio.in: Fix
  704. up "TMP RACE" comments so they are at least secure,
  705. if not terribly robust.
  706. 1999-03-31 Serge Winitzki <swinitzk@hotmail.com>
  707. * added copy_in capability to mtools filesystem
  708. 1999-03-30 Federico Mena Quintero <federico@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  709. * vfs.c (vfs_add_current_stamps): Only do stamping of the panels
  710. if they exist.
  711. * mcserv.c: #include <sys/wait.h>
  712. (get_client): Put `#ifdef __EMX__' around an otherwise-unused
  713. variable.
  714. * utilvfs.c (vfs_split_url): Fix NULL <-> 0 confusion when
  715. comparing characters.
  716. * ftpfs.c (retrieve_dir): Removed unused variable dot_dot_found.
  717. * extfs.c (extfs_init): Assign `key' to c, not `&key'.
  718. Sun Mar 28 23:50:47 1999 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  719. * vfs.h (vfs_translate_url): Fixed the macro which is used when
  720. compiling without vfs.
  721. 1999-03-22 David Martin <dmartina@mailexcite.com>
  722. * ftpfs.c: Internationalize the messages that are displayed as
  723. hints.
  724. 1999-03-22 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  725. * extfs.c (extfs_init): Fix the code here: If the key is empty or
  726. only contains a new line, C would be pointing into an invalid location.
  727. Mon Mar 22 02:56:23 1999 Timur I. Bakeyev <mc@bat.ru>
  728. * Makefile-mc.in: s/$(libdir)\/extfs/$(extfsdir)/
  729. Mon Mar 22 02:00:16 1999 Valery Kornienkov <vlk@st.simbirsk.su>
  730. * extfs/uha.in: Add support for ha archives.
  731. 1999-03-12 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  732. * vfs.c (vfs_parse_ls_lga): Handle stupid servers that send n_link
  733. set to zero.
  734. 1999-03-11 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  735. * vfs.h: Make it compile in AIX. Boy do those guys polute the
  736. name space.
  737. 1999-03-09 Shooby Ban <bansz@szif.hu>
  738. * extfs/extfs.ini: Corrected rpms -> rpms:
  739. by Balazs Nagy <julian7@kva.hu>
  740. 1999-03-09 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  741. * vfs.c (parse_ls_lga): kill the messages on each error.
  742. Tue Feb 16 12:11:04 1999 Paul Sheer <psheer@obsidian.co.za>
  743. * mcserv.c, mcfs.c: mcserv and mcfs exchange st_dev instead
  744. of st_rdev. This makes stats on device files useless. Fixing
  745. this does not break anything, but adds the ability to copy
  746. device files properly. Ideally, both st_dev and st_rdev should
  747. be returned for those programs that use the vfs to properly
  748. recreate hardlinks. Whose idea was it to only return one of
  749. these???
  750. 1999-02-12 Sergey Korshunoff <seyko@p5.f434.n5020.z2.fidonet.org>
  751. * unlha.in: Fix the problem of having incorrect pathnames when
  752. pulling out files from the LHA file.
  753. Sat Feb 6 23:44:28 1999 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  754. * tar.c (read_header): Treat hardlinks correctly.
  755. Mon Feb 1 19:32:12 1999 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  756. * ftpfs.c (insert_dots): renamed from insert_dot. We have to
  757. insert ".." as well or directories from ftp servers which don't
  758. list "." and ".." are displayed with an additional "/".
  759. Mon Feb 1 02:55:07 1999 Timur I. Bakeyev <mc@bat.ru>
  760. * tcputil.c: One more my bug with '\0' -> NULL. Oops..
  761. Mon Feb 1 01:45:08 1999 Timur I. Bakeyev <mc@bat.ru>
  762. * mcserv.c: If setuid() is avaliable, use it, even, streuid() also
  763. present. (BTW, bsdi uses it's own auth system..)
  764. Sun Jan 31 20:51:17 1999 Alexander Savelyev <fano@vcom.kiev.ua>
  765. * mcserv.c (do_auth): mcserv never auth properly on bsdi.
  766. (mc/vfs/mcserv.c do_auth() on bsdi we must use setuid() not
  767. setreuid()).
  768. * tcputil.c: use correct signal handler (void func(int)) on BSDI
  769. Sun Jan 31 20:41:00 1999 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  770. * mcserv.c (do_link): Removed duplicate invokation of link. Thanks
  771. to Grzegorz Makarewicz <mak@mikroplan.com.pl> for spotting this.
  772. Sun Jan 31 20:04:13 1999 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  773. * vfs.c (vfs_strip_suffix_from_filename): Whoever replaces every
  774. occurance of 0 with NULL should stop this stupidy. And replacing
  775. '\0' with NULL is plan wrong!!. Reverted this replacement.
  776. * ftpfs.c (load_no_proxy_list): ditto
  777. Sun Jan 31 19:57:24 1999 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  778. * ftpfs.c (insert_dot): New function. Insert a "." into the linked
  779. list. Stat'ing the root directory of a ftpfs fails if the dot is
  780. missing.
  781. (retrieve_dir): insert "." into the linked list if the ftp server
  782. haven't send it.
  783. Sun Jan 31 19:50:24 1999 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  784. * The following changes make ftpfs work with a remote AmiTCP
  785. server are the result of somehow longish EMail debugging session. I
  786. don't know any public server of this kind but I was told the
  787. combination Unix/Amiga boxes are often used in intranets.
  788. * ftpfs.c (translate_path): New function. Translate a Unix path,
  789. i.e. MC's internal path representation (e.g. /somedir/somefile) to
  790. a path valid for the remote server. Every path transfered to the
  791. remote server has to be mangled by this function right prior to
  792. sending it. Currently only Amiga ftp servers are handled in a
  793. special manner.
  794. * ftpfs.c (various places): use translate_path
  795. * ftpfs.c (login_server): Assume we have to mangle pathnames if
  796. the greatings string from the server contains the word Amiga. If
  797. this assumption is wrong I have to find another way to turn on
  798. path translation.
  799. * ftpfs.c (ftpfs_get_current_directory): Prepend a leading slash
  800. if it is missing. MC needs it as seperator between hostname and
  801. path in its internal url representation.
  802. 1999-01-26 Pavel Machek <pavel@artax.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  803. * vfs.c (vfs_parse_ls_lga): attempt to correctly work against
  804. Notwell 4
  805. Wed Jan 27 03:09:48 1999 Timur I. Bakeyev <mc@bat.ru>
  806. * All around the source: Changed copy_strings() to g_strconcat(). Modi-
  807. fy last parameter in concat_dir_and_file() to "" - to prevent stack from
  808. disbalancing.
  809. 1999-01-25 Federico Mena Quintero <federico@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  810. * Makefile.am (libvfs_la_SOURCES): Added utilvfs.h.
  811. * Make-mc.in (VFSHDRS): Likewise.
  812. Sat Jan 23 18:40:19 1999 Timur I. Bakeyev <mc@bat.ru>
  813. * utilvfs.c (append_path_sep): Removed - concat_dir_and_file(dir, NULL);
  814. gives the same effect.
  815. 1999-01-21 Federico Mena Quintero <federico@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  816. * utilvfs.c (append_path_sep): Fixed, it was broken for paths
  817. which already have a / at the end.
  818. Fri Jan 22 01:41:25 1999 Timur I. Bakeyev <mc@bat.ru>
  819. * undelfs.c: Found one more unconverted realloc() call.
  820. 1999-01-20 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  821. * undelfs.c (undelfs_loaddel): Fix Timur's changes.
  822. Thu Jan 21 00:58:12 1999 Timur I. Bakeyev <mc@bat.ru>
  823. * Actually commit all changes :>
  824. Tue Jan 19 05:15:49 1999 Timur I. Bakeyev <mc@bat.ru>
  825. * Converted all occurences of DIR_SEP_CHAR and "/" to PATH_SEP and
  826. PATH_SEP_STR. Additionall cleanups of the memory code.
  827. * utilvfs.h: Added several defenitions for common sizes for buffers.
  828. It seems, most of us experience problems, when inventing size for new
  829. buffer. This is much better and portable way to eliminate the problem.
  830. 1999-01-18 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  831. * vfs.h: The correct thing to use is PATH_SEP and PATH_SEP_STR
  832. Sun Jan 17 16:19:48 1999 Timur I. Bakeyev <mc@bat.ru>
  833. * Converted memory managment to Glib. Now we use g_new()/g_malloc()/
  834. g_strdup()/g_free() routings. Also, copy_strings() replaced by
  835. g_strconcat(), and sprintf() by g_snprintf().
  836. * utilvfs.h: New header file. Introduced as a stock header, which keeps
  837. all includes in a right order, to avoid order-dependence mistakes.
  838. Sun Jan 17 15:49:39 1999 Paul Sheer <psheer@obsidian.co.za>
  839. * direntry.c: vfs_s_find_entry_tree changed to follow
  840. symlinks properly. Symlinks are now always followed
  841. except for the last part of the filename.
  842. vfs_s_resolve_symlink() now converts absolute paths to
  843. ../../file notation so that they can be easily resolved
  844. within the tree.
  845. * tar.c: . and .. are missing from directory entries,
  846. making it impossible to resolve links - fixed.
  847. 1999-01-12 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  848. * vfs.c (mc_get_current_wd): Do not die. Truncate the pathname.
  849. 1999-01-10 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  850. * sfs.c (redirect): tempnam returns a malloc()ed buffer.
  851. Sat Jan 9 19:15:00 1999 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  852. * vfs.c (vfs_timeout_handler): Guard from recursive invocation.
  853. Sat Jan 9 19:13:28 1999 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  854. * sfs.c (sfs_free): Fixed wrong linked list handling (head was
  855. lost after the first iteration).
  856. (sfs_getid): dito, return value was wrong.
  857. Sat Jan 9 22:49:02 1999 Timur I. Bakeyev <mc@bat.ru>
  858. * vfs.c (parse_ls_lga): Rewrite function to make it more stright.
  859. Also, fixed some bugs in parsing (and add new ones:), which diasallowed
  860. proper parsing of device major and minor numbers. Some other fixes. Add
  861. several new is_*() functions to make code readable.
  862. 1999-01-08 Ilya Zakharevich <ilya@math.ohio-state.edu>
  863. * vfs.h (vfs_strip_suffix_from_filename): Typo fix. Include
  864. defines for non-vfs compilation.
  865. Fri Jan 8 20:03:36 1999 Andrej Borsenkow <borsenkow.msk@sni.de>
  866. * vfs.c (vfs_parse_filedate): I forgot to set got_year in one place
  867. (where YY-MM-DD is parsed).
  868. Thu Jan 7 06:24:25 1999 Andrej Borsenkow <borsenkow.msk@sni.de>
  869. * vfs.c (vfs_parse_filedate): If the date is less than 6 months
  870. in the past, it is shown without year. In this case MC assumed
  871. the current year which is wrong from Jan to Jun.
  872. Thu Jan 7 03:47:35 1999 Timur I. Bakeyev <mc@bat.ru>
  873. * vfs.c (parse_ls_lga): Fixed Y2K typo pointed by Alex.
  874. Thu Dec 31 08:47:15 1998 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  875. * sfs.c (sfs_nothingisopen): Assume for now it's always save to free
  876. this filesystem and delete temporary files. This needs further
  877. investigation.
  878. * tar.c: deleted unused empty struct tar_super.
  879. Thu Dec 31 08:40:44 1998 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  880. * direntry.c: Split fd_usage into fd_usage and ino_usage. fd_usage
  881. was used for external and internal reference count. This was wrong
  882. because we can free resources taken up by the vfs as soon as the
  883. external reference count (now fd_usage) is zero. The internal
  884. reference count (ino_usage) mustn't matter because the vfs has to
  885. clean up itself in the correct order.
  886. Fri Dec 25 21:48:51 1998 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  887. * direntry.c (vfs_s_new_inode): Moved initialization of st_ino
  888. and st_dev from vfs_s_default_stat.
  889. (vfs_s_default_stat): initialize st_ino and st_dev to zero
  890. * tar.c (tar_open_archive): Make a new MEDATA->rdev for every
  891. new archive.
  892. Mon Dec 21 22:55:48 1998 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  893. * tar.c: Deleted global variable tar_gzipped_memlimit.
  894. Wed Dec 16 06:36:42 1998 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  895. * vfs.c (vfs_strip_suffix_from_filename): New function which strips
  896. known vfs suffixes from a filename and returns a malloced string
  897. which has to be freed. Possible improvement: strip vfs suffix from
  898. last path component.
  899. * extfs/*: added "umask 077" to every script.
  900. Tue Dec 15 16:41:50 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  901. * extfs.c (extfs_open), sfs.c (redirect): create files 0600 and
  902. safely w.r.t. symlinks in /tmp
  903. Mon Nov 30 23:49:11 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@bug.ucw.cz>
  904. * direntry.c: Hopefully got want_stale_data right...
  905. Wed Nov 25 23:54:23 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@bug.ucw.cz>
  906. * vfs.h: use ENETUNREACH if EREMOTEIO error code is not defined,
  907. this is neccessary for Solaris and probably others
  908. Mon Nov 23 17:39:33 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@bug.ucw.cz>
  909. * vfs.c (vfs_type_from_op): removing unneccessary code
  910. Wed Dec 9 12:24:52 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  911. * extfs/rpm: commit fix for files with spaces in name by Marc
  912. Merlin (marcsoft@merlins.org)
  913. Mon Dec 7 11:04:57 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  914. * fish.c: default to normal ssh
  915. (open_archive_int): debugging hack killed
  916. 1998-12-02 Raja R Harinath <harinath@cs.umn.edu>
  917. * Makefile.am (EXTRA_DIST): Distribute files that the
  918. BUILT_SOURCES depend on.
  919. (mad.c, mad.h): Don't use GNU make specific features in rule.
  920. (libvfs_la_SOURCES): Update from Make-mc.in.
  921. 1998-12-02 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  922. * direntry.c (vfs_s_insert_super): This routine does not return
  923. anything.
  924. 1998-12-02 Sebastian Wilhelmi <wilhelmi@ira.uka.de>
  925. * fish.c (FISH_OP): changed snprintf to g_snprintf, as glib is
  926. used anyway.
  927. * xdirentry.h (LINK_NO_FOLLOW):
  928. * tar.c (read_header):
  929. * direntry.c (vfs_s_resolve_symlink):
  930. (vfs_s_inode_from_path):
  931. (vfs_s_open): renamed NO_FOLLOW and FOLLOW to LINK_NO_FOLLOW and
  932. LINK_FOLLOW resp. to avoid problems on solaris, where FOLLOW and
  933. NO_FOLLOW are defined in an enum.
  934. * vfs.h (ELAST): define it to 300, if not already defined, thats a
  935. bad hack, but what can we do....
  936. Wed Dec 2 14:06:49 KST 1998 Sung-Hyun Nam <namsh@lgic.co.kr>
  937. * direntry.c (vfs_s_new_super): Added the missing return value.
  938. Sun Nov 29 02:54:54 1998 Timur I. Bakeyev <mc@bat.ru>
  939. * vfs.h: (Temporary?) fix to the compiling error: Some of the error
  940. codes, defined here are Linux specific and unknown to other systems.
  941. Changed to #ifdef's with assigning new codes by means ELAST+offset.
  942. Tue 24 Nov 12:43:20 1998 Peter Kleiweg <kleiweg@let.rug.nl>
  943. * vfs.c (vfs_parse_ls_lga): ignore trailing + in permission string
  944. which indicate a file with extented attributes (ACL)
  945. Mon Nov 23 21:19:43 1998 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  946. * ftpfs.c (resolve_symlink_with_ls_options): that's resolve_symlinks
  947. we used up to release 4.1.35. It uses LIST -lLa to get symlink stats.
  948. (resolve_symlink_without_ls_options): that's resolve_symlinks
  949. we used in release 4.1.36 and 4.5.[01]. It gets symlink stats from the
  950. directory cache fetching directories if necessary. We got some
  951. complaints about slower ftpfs in the above releases. Now this methode
  952. is no longer the default methode to resolve symbolic links. It is still
  953. needed for ftp servers which don't understand the LIST -lLa command.
  954. (resolve_symlink): Dispatch between the two methods to
  955. resolve symlinks.
  956. Sat Nov 21 21:38:08 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@bug.ucw.cz>
  957. * vfs.c (vfs_parse_ls_lga): corrected stupid bug in parse_ls_lga,
  958. thanks to Pavel Roskin for reporting
  959. * direntry.c (vfs_s_lseek): -1 is invalid filehandle, not 0
  960. * utilvfs.c (vfs_split_url): initialize variables so that we do
  961. not return garbage
  962. Sat Nov 7 20:19:14 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@bug.ucw.cz>
  963. * vfs.c: Converted g_return_if_fail into vfs_dies(), removed them
  964. where unneccessary. I do not see why passing NULL to vfs_add_stamp
  965. should be invalid -> removed check.
  966. Mon Nov 2 23:09:55 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@bug.ucw.cz>
  967. * direntry.c, xdirentry.h: should be now prepared to handle
  968. ftp-like filesystems. This is rather BIG change, altrough it does
  969. not look so. I hope I do not break too many things.
  970. Mon Nov 16 16:39:39 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  971. * vfs.c (vfs_parse_ls_lga): Report unrecognized lines.
  972. Thu Nov 12 11:28:48 1998 Pavel Roskin <pavel_roskin@geocities.com>
  973. * extfs/rpm: Fix to display files belonging to users with
  974. excessively long usernames
  975. 1998-10-30 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  976. * fish.c (command): Replace vnsprintf with g_strdup_vprintf. This
  977. is both safe and more correct, as there is no limit on the
  978. pathname.
  979. * ftpfs.c (command): Same as above.
  980. * util-alone.c (print_vfs_message): Same as above.
  981. Wed Oct 28 17:06:57 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  982. * ftpfs.c: report which directory you are listing, fix behaviour
  983. with servers that don't like LIST //. (Nowell) Fix behaviour even
  984. with NT.
  985. * direntry.c (vfs_s_automake): insert newly generated entry
  986. * direntry.c (vfs_s_free_entry): Debugging printf() killed.
  987. Mon Oct 26 00:38:30 1998 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  988. * Make-mc.in: added xdirentry.h to VFSHDRS
  989. Fri Oct 23 12:29:48 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  990. * tar.c (tar_open_archive): do not double-free memory if you can
  991. not open archive, better error handling
  992. * Makefile.in: add direntry.o to list of NONETFILES so we actually compile
  993. * sfs.c, tar.c: remove debugging messages (which really should not
  994. escape from my tree)
  995. Thu Oct 22 22:24:44 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@bug.ucw.cz>
  996. * README: added. If you are using emacs or hacking libvfs, please
  997. read this one.
  998. * direntry.{c,h}: new library created, so that same entry/inode
  999. code does not have to be copied in every handler.
1000. * tar.c: converted to use direntry.c library, which means BIG changes.
1001. * ftpfs.c: small updates to make code look nicer
  1002. Mon Oct 19 19:40:58 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@bug.ucw.cz>
1003. * vfs.h (&more): killed ERRNOR() from vfs.h and put it into files
  1004. which actually need it.
  1005. * extfs.c: extfs_current_dir killed - it was unneccessary.
1006. * mcfs.c (mcfs_get_path): It is possible for path not to begin
1007. with /#mc:, for example if user does /etc/#mc:. (It is not
1008. correct, of course). Return error, but do not vfs_die().
  1009. Sun Oct 18 23:48:00 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@bug.ucw.cz>
1010. * lib/mc.ext.in: cpio support fixed. It was broken since time we
1011. started to do #ext syntax.
  1012. Sat Oct 17 20:43:20 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@bug.ucw.cz>
1013. * vfs.c (mc_open): die() if open is unsupported. If filesytem does
1014. not support open, it is probably stupid typo, so we want bug to be
  1015. fixed.
  1016. Thu Oct 22 20:30:28 1998 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  1017. * ftpfs.c (resolve_symlink, retrieve_dir): Don't timeout and
1018. free dcache while resolving symlinks (i.e. don't free some
1019. pointers which are in use by resolve_symlink).
  1020. Mon Oct 19 11:44:47 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
1021. * mcfs.c: prefix is mc:, not mcfs:. So now mcfs actually works.
  1022. Thu Oct 15 17:17:17 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  1023. * shared_ftp_fish.c (s_write): stupid bug fixed
  1024. Tue Oct 13 00:22:52 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@bug.ucw.cz>
1025. * extfs/*: marked obvious security holes with FIXME: TMP RACE
  1026. * vfs.c (mc_def_getlocalcopy): creat->open(..,O_EXCL), to prevent
1027. symlink attack, fixed memory leak along the path
  1028. 1998-10-13 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  1029. * vfs.c, vfs.h: Indentation chages, ugly macros removed. I am
1030. going to split this file in the future.
  1031. Tue Oct 13 18:43:18 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@lomikel.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  1032. * vfs.c (vfs_add_noncurrent_stamps): Fixed typo reported by Andrej
  1033. Borsenkow <borsenkow.msk@sni.de>
  1034. Tue Oct 13 12:42:10 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  1035. * vfs.h (vfs_struct): renamed to avoid namespace conflict
  1036. Mon Oct 12 22:42:30 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@bug.ucw.cz>
  1037. * sfs.c: reuse mmap from local.c
  1038. * ftpfs.c, fish.c, shared_ftp_fish.c: horrible reget hack removed,
1039. and replaced with open(,O_LINEAR); lseek() combination
  1040. Sun Oct 11 01:44:37 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@bug.ucw.cz>
  1041. * mcfs.c (open_tcp_link): Moved: it used to be in utilvfs.c, but
1042. as it deals with portmapper, it is probably usefull for mcfs
1043. * vfs.h (MCERR_*): these are no longer needed
  1044. * vfs.c (vfs_translate_url): translating of url's moved to vfs
  1045. code
1046. * all around: trying to reduce namespace pollution. All special
1047. functions (like extfs_run) should be done using mc_setctl()
1048. interface. At the end, all non-static functions in vfs layer
1049. should begin with vfs_ and should be declared in vfs.h (however
1050. that goal is far away).
1051. * all over the code: replace X_vfs_ops to vfs_X_ops
  1052. Mon Oct 5 20:11:01 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@bug.ucw.cz>
1053. * vfs.c: added stat to avoid hiding files by naming them
1054. #ftp:localhost and similar. Vfs will not treat files as local if
1055. they already exists, regardless of name.
  1056. Tue Oct 6 15:34:22 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
1057. * vfs.h: disable BROKEN_PATHS by default. See if you can live
1058. without cd .. from ftp tree putting you to last directory.
  1059. Sat Oct 3 14:28:57 1998 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  1060. * ftpfs.c (resolve_symlink): fixed cut'n paste error in my last
1061. change, i.e. make it compile)
  1062. Sat Oct 3 01:03:37 1998 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  1063. * ftpfs.c (resolve_symlink): minor speed enhancement
  1064. Thu Oct 1 18:39:52 1998 Pavel Roskin <pavel_roskin@geocities.com>
  1065. * vfs.h: vfs_force_expire() was incorrectly #define'd
  1066. Tue Sep 29 17:23:03 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz>
  1067. * extfs.c, sfs.c: added few static's to prevent people from doing
  1068. stupid things
  1069. Mon Sep 28 21:43:16 1998 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
1070. * vfs.h (struct vfs): renamed errno to verrno because glibc2
  1071. defines errno as macro (#define errno (*__errno_location ()))
  1072. Mon Sep 28 21:34:03 1998 Norbert Warmuth <nwarmuth@privat.circular.de>
  1073. * Makefile.in: search config.status in builddir and not in srcdir/..,
1074. i. e. make it compile for builddir != srcdir
  1075. Sun Sep 27 16:16:52 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@bug.ucw.cz>
1076. * COPYING.LGPL, all over the code: code is now under Library
1077. General Public License (instead of GPL), so non-free applications
  1078. can link to it.
  1079. Wed Sep 23 22:37:40 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@bug.ucw.cz>
1080. * all over the code: added (vfs *) as first argument for functions
1081. that have no other way to know what fs they belong to. This will
1082. be used by object-like tricks, which will allow us to do real
  1083. code-sharing: I do not like #including of .c files.
  1084. 1998-09-25 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  1085. * shared_ftp_fish.c: Addaed prototypes for linear_start, linear_read,
  1086. linear_close
  1087. Wed Sep 23 15:09:55 1998 Tom Tromey <tromey@cygnus.com>
1088. * vfs.h (MIN, MAX): Only define if not already defined; glib.h
  1089. also defines them.
  1090. Wed Sep 23 13:33:14 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@ucw.cz>
1091. * ftpfs.c: Fixed segfault caused by unitialized varialble
  1092. Wed Sep 23 11:51:12 1998 Pavel Roskin <pavel_roskin@geocities.com)
  1093. * ftpfs.c: Special characters were printed via print_vfs_message.
1094. This caused funny effects if "XTerm hintbar" was on.
  1095. Mon Sep 21 11:40:30 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@ucw.cz>
  1096. * ftpfs.c, fish.c: added O_LINEAR mode to handle linear read of
1097. files in sane way. copy_file_file will make temporary files for a
  1098. while (fix pending).
  1099. * tar.c: fixed bzip/bzip2 compressed archives
  1100. Wed Sep 18 12:51:51 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@ucw.cz>
  1101. * fish.c, vfs.c: created aliases /#ssh: and /#rsh:
1102. * vfs.h: created ERRNOR() macro which sets my_errno and returns,
1103. which makes vfs's _much_ more readable
  1104. Fri Sep 18 10:37:28 1998 Pavel Roskin <pavel_roskin@geocities.com)
1105. * extfs.c: free() was called twice for the same place in memory
  1106. in extfs_open()
  1107. Tue Sep 15 20:31:32 1998 Norbert Warmuth <k3190@fh-sw.de>
  1108. * ftpfs.c (ftp_use_unix_list_options): New global variable/option.
1109. If true we try to use 'LIST -la <path>'. When it fails we use the
1110. two commands 'CWD <path>' and 'LIST' instead.
  1111. (resolve_symlink): rewritten. Don't get a second directory listing
1112. with `LIST -lLa'. Instead use the cache to get the file stat of
1113. symbolic links. If the directory the symlink points to isn't
1114. already in the cache the directory listing will be fetched and
1115. stored in the directory cache (without resolving symlinks
  1116. recursively).
1117. The new method to resolve symlinks is faster if symlinks
1118. the same directory or the directory the symlink points to
1119. is already in the cache.
1120. This function was small and nice until I discovered that it was
1121. broken for symlinks to symlinks. Now it looks ugly and perhaps I
1122. will revert it to use "LIST -lLa" again. With a fast connection it
1123. doesn't matter which methode we use but with a slow connection I
1124. wouldn't hesitate to burn more cpu cycles on the client side.
1125. (retrieve_dir): Added parameter to tell whether to resolve
1126. symlinks (don't resolve symlinks in directory listings retrieved
  1127. while resolving symlinks).
1128. When we don't get a directory listing with 'LIST -la <path>' then
1129. try to get it with `CWD <path>; LIST'.
  1130. Tue Sep 15 20:27:29 1998 Norbert Warmuth <k3190@fh-sw.de>
  1131. * ftpfs.c (login_server): s/ftpfs_get_host/my_get_host/
  1132. (retrieve_file_start2): Don't create target file O_EXCL, in
1133. copy_file_file we check existance of the target file and know
1134. that we want to truncate it (this change was already done a
1135. while back but it was reverted with the vfs-split).
  1136. Tue Sep 15 20:15:42 1998 Norbert Warmuth <k3190@fh-sw.de>
1137. * ftpfs.h (struct connection): added boolean which indicates that
1138. the ftp server doesn't understand Unix ls options
1139. * ftpfs.h (struct dir): added enum to store symlink status of the
  1140. in memory directory cache (directory has no symbolic links;
1141. symbolic links but not yet resolved; symbolic links which are resolved)
  1142. Tue Sep 15 20:02:08 1998 Norbert Warmuth <k3190@fh-sw.de>
  1143. * shared_ftp_fish.c, fish.c: updated references to retrieve_dir to
1144. honour the additional boolean parameter
  1145. Tue Sep 15 00:42:15 1998 Timur Bakeyev <mc@bat.ru>
  1146. * vfs.h: add vfs_split() declaration, to make sfs.c happy.
  1147. * Make-mc.in, Makefile.am: Updated to include fish.c
  1148. 1998-09-14 Norbert Warmuth <k3190@fh-sw.de>
1149. * sfs.c (sfs_free): assignment operator was used to check for equality
  1150. Fri Sep 11 22:36:38 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@ucw.cz>
  1151. * sfs.c: memory leak fixed
  1152. * vfs.c: split parse_ls_lga into more functions
1153. * fish.c added, now you can access files over rsh/ssh connection
1154. * shared*.c: reworked a bit not to include so many of ugly X_'s
  1155. Wed Sep 2 13:59:47 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@ucw.cz>
  1156. * ftpfs.c: cleanup of code, few static's added
1157. * extfs/uarj: added, still, you need patches to unarj to make this
  1158. work
1159. * util-alone.c: now includes code from libvfs.c, so we can kill
1160. libvfs.c (which is good thing as it was non-standard in Makefiles)
  1161. Sun Aug 30 13:19:49 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@ucw.cz>
1162. * undelfs.c: fixed, it has been broken for too long
1163. * vfs.c, ../src/cmd.c: neccessary minor fixes to make undelfs work
1164. * vfs.c: made more fields in *_vfs_ops optional, cleanup of errno
1165. handling in case of NULL in *_vfs_ops.
  1166. * extfs.c, ftpfs.c, tar.c: made use of above change
1167. * vfs.c: cleanup of macros generating mc_*()
  1168. * libvfs.c: adding variable mc_home
  1169. Thu Aug 27 19:45:31 1998 Pavel Roskin <pavel_roskin@geocities.com>
  1170. * extfs.c: mc_extfsdir was not defined in extfs_open()
1171. * Make-mc.in: sfs.c was not compiled, linked and copied out
1172. extfs/sfs.ini was not installed and copied out
1173. * Makefile.am: sfs.c was not linked to standalone VFS
  1174. Tue Aug 25 17:54:17 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@ucw.cz>
  1175. * Added vfs_uid for use by libvfs.so users (rpc.nfsd)
1176. * Added single file filesystem (sfs)
1177. * Added vfs_flags so library users can disable selected
  1178. filesystems
1179. * Minor shuffling of functions so garbage collection works for
  1180. library
  1181. 1998-08-20 Raja R Harinath <harinath@cs.umn.edu>
  1182. * Makefile.am (mad.c, mad.h): Create symlinks to counterparts in
  1183. `mc-src'.
  1184. Wed Aug 12 19:04:48 1998 Pavel Roskin <pavel_roskin@geocities.com>
  1185. * extfs/patchfs: %k replaced with more portable %H in the format
  1186. for "date" command
1187. * extfs/extfs.ini: Added patchfs and mailfs. Some comments
  1188. changed
  1189. Tue Aug 11 15:25:52 1998 Pavel Roskin <pavel_roskin@geocities.com>
  1190. * extfs/rpm: Fix for buggy "cut" on HP-UX 10.20 which ignores
  1191. lines without enf-of-line.
  1192. Mon Jun 01 03:30:07 1998 Alexander Savelyev <fano@vcom.kiev.ua>
1193. * tar.c (read_header): Support for linkflag on BSDI tar (pax), it
  1194. is always 0.
  1195. 1998-06-22 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  1196. * ftpfs.c (ftpfs_open_socket): Potential security break fix.
  1197. 1998-08-06 Raja R Harinath <harinath@cs.umn.edu>
  1198. * Makefile.am (BUILT_SOURCES): Make it `make dist' friendly.
1199. Don't try building this, yet.
  1200. 1998-07-31 Nuno Ferreira <nmrf@rnl.ist.utl.pt>
  1201. * Make-mc.in (install.extfs): Splitted install of $(EXTFS_CONST)
1202. and $(EXTFS_OUT) because the first must be installed from
  1203. $(srcdir) and the second from $(builddir).
  1204. Fri Jul 24 00:22:30 1998 Tom Tromey <tromey@cygnus.com>
  1205. * Make-mc.in (DISTVFS): Changed Makefile.in to Make-mc.in.
  1206. * Makefile.am: New file.
  1207. * Make-mc.in: Renamed from Makefile.in.
  1208. * Makefile.in: Removed.
  1209. Mon Jun 29 15:12:55 1998 Pavel Roskin <pavel_roskin@geocities.com>
1210. * Makefile.in: Rewritten stuff concerning extfs files.

1212. * Makefile.in: Remove arfs, since it doesn't seem to exist
  1213. Wed Jun 17 Pavel Machek <pavel@ucw.cz>
1214. * Rename helper scripts (extfs/{rar|lha|...}.in), so their names
1215. are more logical (and so that things actually work, because new
1216. names are currently in extfs.ini).
  1217. Wed Jun 17 Pavel Machek <pavel@ucw.cz>
1218. * Modified code to use tempnam() instead of tmpnam(), fixed
1219. tempnam() to use NULL instead of 0.
  1220. Wed Jun 3 Pavel Machek <pavel@ucw.cz>
1221. * libvfs.c: adding libvfs.c which should contain things specific
1222. to stand-alone libvfs.so. (This file was missing from previous
  1223. merge.)
  1224. Mon Jun 1 16:00:19 1998 Norbert Warmuth <k3190@fh-sw.de>
  1225. * ftpfs.c (ftpfs_fill_names): use right character to seperate
  1226. prefix and username
  1227. Mon Jun 1 14:19:20 1998 Bakeyev I. Timur <mc@bat.ru>
  1228. * vfs.c (parse_ls_lga): allow a bit wider range of listings.
  1229. * vfs.c (is_time, is_year): new functions
  1230. Mon Jun 1 12:47:50 1998 Norbert Warmuth <k3190@fh-sw.de>
  1231. * ftpfs.c (ftpfs_forget): Use the new ftpfs prefix.
  1232. Thu May 28 16:42:31 1998 Pavel Machek <pavel@ucw.cz>
  1233. * extfs.c, shared.c, tar.c: I changed semantics in my previous
1234. patch - _get_path() now modifies strings passed to it. I thought
1235. that I were carefull enough not to introduce bugs. You guessed it -
1236. I was not. [Many tar_ and extfs_ functions modify strings passed
1237. to them, but as they are only called from vfs layer, it does not
  1238. matter much.]
1239. So I renamed function to alert everyone that semantics changed.
1240. Fixed bugs in timestamping (and segfaults) when you entered tar
1241. inside zip file or similar.
  1242. * vfs.c (mc_open): Die if the filesystem doesn't support open
  1243. ??? Pavel Machek <pavel@ucw.cz>
  1244. * shared.c: Shared parts of extfs.c and tar.c are now in shared.c
1245. * util-alone.*: VFS should be able to compile stand-alone into
1246. libvfs.so usable by anyone. This is first step.
1247. * vfs.c & others: syntax change. We no longer use
1248. tar:/path.tar/file. Now, syntax is /path.tar#utar/file, which has
1249. better defined meaning. Similar changes are done to all other
1250. protocols. This change touched really _many_ places of code.
  1251. 1998-05-26 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@nuclecu.unam.mx>
1252. * vfs.c (MC_DIROP): Macro now returns the proper value.
  1253. 1998-maj-18 Tamasi Gyorgy (gt_cosy@usa.net)
1254. * Makefile.in ('install' target): 'mcserv' not installed, if
1255. net-code is not enabled by 'configure'.
  1256. Thu May 14 02:05:52 1998 Norbert Warmuth <k3190@fh-sw.de>
  1257. * Makefile.in (LIBS): add @LINTL@
  1258. Sun May 10 14:51:03 1998 Norbert Warmuth <k3190@fh-sw.de>
  1259. * ftpfs.c (__ftpfs_chdir): CWD command wasn't sent at all. This
1260. optimation is wrong because for directories containing spaces we
1261. have to "CWD <pathname>" and "LIST -la" instead of
  1262. "LIST -la <pathname>".
1263. I implemented a different optimation. Now ftpfs_chdir only stores
1264. the new working directory and sets a flag. __ftpfs_chdir is called
1265. when we really want to change the directory on the ftp server.
1266. (resolve_symlink): Log the directory listing to the logfile.
  1267. * ftpfs.h (struct ftpfs_connection): Added a (per connection)
  1268. cwd_defered flag.
  1269. Mon May 4 10:27:49 1998 Norbert Warmuth <k3190@fh-sw.de>
  1270. * Makefile.in: Links to mad.c and mad.h were created wrong when
1271. srcdir != builddir and directory depth to srcdir and builddir were
  1272. different (e.g. srcdir=/src/mc and builddir=/src/compile/mc)
  1273. * ftpfs.c (retrieve_file_start2): Don't create target file O_EXCL,
1274. in copy_file_file we check existance of the target file and know
1275. that we want to truncate it.
  1276. 1998-04-29 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  1277. * tar.c (read_header): Mark regular files with S_IFREG.
  1278. Tue Apr 28 06:06:03 1998 Norbert Warmuth <k3190@fh-sw.de>
  1279. * extfs.c (extfs_open, extfs_close): Changed my_system(1,...) to
1280. my_system(EXECUTE_AS_SHELL,...), this fixes the broken copyin and
  1281. copyout of 4.1.32.
  1282. 1998-04-23 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@nuclecu.unam.mx>
  1283. * ftpfs.c (retrieve_file_start2): Open file exclusively.
  1284. (retrieve_file): likewise.
  1285. 1998-03-31 Philippe De Muyter <phdm@macqel.be>
  1286. * vfs.h: compilation fix for m68k-motorola-sysv
  1287. Wed Mar 25 19:01:48 1998 Norbert Warmuth <k3190@fh-sw.de>
  1288. * extfs/hp48: Added a usage summary
  1289. Mon Mar 23 00:42:21 1998 Christofer Edvardsen <ce@earthling.net>
  1290. * Makefile.in, extfs/extfs.ini, extfs/hp48: New external
1291. filesystem to view and copy files to/from the HP48.
  1292. Wed Feb 11 14:09:02 1998 Oleg <oleg@pobox.com>
1293. * extfs.c: Add support for writtable external file systems.
  1294. Required for the httpfs.
  1295. Fri Jan 23 07:27:37 1998 Peter Daum <gator@cs.tu-berlin.de>
1296. * extfs.c (open_extfs_archive): Pass the quoted argument to the
  1297. list command.
1298. * mailfs: new file system.
  1299. 1997-12-21 Yuri Kuzmenko <Yuri.Kuzmenko@f169.n463.z2.fidonet.org>
1300. * tar.c: fix the bug which core dumps when trying to view tar file
1301. with many files (over 60000).
  1302. Mon Jul 21 18:47:37 1997 Miguel de Icaza <miguel@athena.nuclecu.unam.mx>
  1303. * vfs.c (mc_opendir): Do not make conversions between int/void *
