  2. All Australian provinces employ modern cursive letters for handwriting
  3. education, which are taught in a progressive manner. But each state teaches its
  4. own version of this style, locally known as ‘script‘, and state-level
  5. departments of education offer guidelines and, in some cases, resources for
  6. schools and teachers.
  7. </p>
  8. <p>
  9. The adoption of the current models and approach can be traced back to 1990,
  10. when the Australian Education Council (AEC) recommended that all schools in the
  11. country should adopt a handwriting style based on Scottish calligrapher Tom
  12. Gourdie’s Simple Modern Hand. The AEC advocated for a consistent style in
  13. handwriting instruction across the country so students relocating across states
  14. and territories would not face difficulties. Despite starting from the same
  15. source, today the

  18. have diverged somewhat in their details.

  21. Playwrite Australia QLD is a variable font with a weight range from Thin (100)
  22. to Regular (400), and supports over 150 Latin-based languages.
  23. It has a single-weight sibling with Guides,
  24. <a href="https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Playwrite+AU+QLD+Guides">Playwrite AU QLD Guides</a>,
  25. designed to harmonize seamlessly with this main font while providing a
  26. visual aid for primary school children.

  35. <h4>Playwrite Australia QLD characteristics</h4>
  36. <p>
  37. This semi-connected, slanted modern cursive features print-style capital
  38. letters. The extenders are loopless, and letters with descenders do not connect
  39. to the next letter, allowing for a fluid and fast writing pace. Notably, 'm'
  40. and 'n' start with curved entry strokes. Distinctive features include an open
  41. 'G' without a crossbar and a serifed 'I', adding a unique touch. The 'Y' is
  42. peculiar in its form. The lowercase 'f' is disconnected and features a straight
  43. descender. The 'q' concludes with a short exit stroke, while the 's' maintains
  44. a cursive style. The 'z' is designed to be wide and open with a descender,
  45. enhancing readability and style.

  60. The Playwrite school fonts are based on the findings of Primarium, a
  61. groundbreaking educational effort that documents the history and current
  62. practice of handwriting models taught to primary school students worldwide.
  63. This typographic engine serves teachers, educators, and parents by generating
  64. localized libre fonts. These Playwrite fonts are complemented by
  65. <a href="https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Playpen+Sans"> Playpen Sans</a>, an
