  2. Educational Vertical cursive models first appeared in the 19th century in
  3. France, England, and the USA as simplified forms of their predecessors,
  4. Roundhand and Spencerian styles, respectively. The upright cursive writing did
  5. not enjoy a long period of popularity in northern European and Anglo-American
  6. countries. It was, however, widely adopted in Spain, Portugal, Italy, and
  7. France, where it is still used. From these countries, it traveled to erstwhile
  8. colonies such as Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile, among others. In
  9. Brazil, this resulted in the replacement of the then-popular models of
  10. handwriting, such as Palmer from the
  11. <a href="https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Playwrite+US+Trad">US</a> and
  12. commercial Roundhand script from England, with the vertical cursive approach.

  32. round letters, and a slow curve speed. The capital letters are predominantly
  33. cursive, with many designed to connect seamlessly to the following lowercase
  34. letters. 'Q' is notably distinctive in shape. Many lowercase letters begin with
  35. curved entry strokes. The letter 'q' includes a crossbar, 'f' features a
  36. mirrored bottom loop, and 'z' is characterized by a round form with a looped
  37. descender.

  51. <p>
  52. The Playwrite school fonts are based on the findings of Primarium, a
  53. groundbreaking educational effort that documents the history and current
  54. practice of handwriting models taught to primary school students worldwide.
  55. This typographic engine serves teachers, educators, and parents by generating
  56. localized libre fonts. These Playwrite fonts are complemented by
  57. <a href="https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Playpen+Sans"> Playpen Sans</a>, an
  58. informal and fun typeface designed for annotations, instructions, and student
  59. notes – that also includes emojis.
