  10. @chapter Description
  11. @c man begin DESCRIPTION
  12. FFplay is a very simple and portable media player using the FFmpeg
  13. libraries and the SDL library. It is mostly used as a testbed for the
  14. various FFmpeg APIs.

  20. @table @option
  21. @item -x @var{width}
  22. Force displayed width.
  23. @item -y @var{height}
  24. Force displayed height.
  25. @item -s @var{size}
  26. Set frame size (WxH or abbreviation), needed for videos which do
  27. not contain a header with the frame size like raw YUV. This option
  28. has been deprecated in favor of private options, try -video_size.
  29. @item -an
  30. Disable audio.
  31. @item -vn
  32. Disable video.
  33. @item -ss @var{pos}
  34. Seek to a given position in seconds.
  35. @item -t @var{duration}
  36. play <duration> seconds of audio/video
  37. @item -bytes
  38. Seek by bytes.
  39. @item -nodisp
  40. Disable graphical display.
  41. @item -f @var{fmt}
  42. Force format.
  43. @item -window_title @var{title}
  44. Set window title (default is the input filename).
  45. @item -loop @var{number}
  46. Loops movie playback <number> times. 0 means forever.
  47. @item -showmode @var{mode}
  48. Set the show mode to use.
  49. Available values for @var{mode} are:
  50. @table @samp
  51. @item 0, video
  52. show video
  53. @item 1, waves
  54. show audio waves
  55. @item 2, rdft
  56. show audio frequency band using RDFT ((Inverse) Real Discrete Fourier Transform)
  57. @end table
  58. Default value is "video", if video is not present or cannot be played
  59. "rdft" is automatically selected.
  60. You can interactively cycle through the available show modes by
  61. pressing the key @key{w}.
  62. @item -vf @var{filtergraph}
  63. Create the filtergraph specified by @var{filtergraph} and use it to
  64. filter the video stream.
  65. @var{filtergraph} is a description of the filtergraph to apply to
  66. the stream, and must have a single video input and a single video
  67. output. In the filtergraph, the input is associated to the label
  68. @code{in}, and the output to the label @code{out}. See the
  69. ffmpeg-filters manual for more information about the filtergraph
  70. syntax.
  71. You can specify this parameter multiple times and cycle through the specified
  72. filtergraphs along with the show modes by pressing the key @key{w}.
  73. @item -af @var{filtergraph}
  74. @var{filtergraph} is a description of the filtergraph to apply to
  75. the input audio.
  76. Use the option "-filters" to show all the available filters (including
  77. sources and sinks).
  78. @item -i @var{input_url}
  79. Read @var{input_url}.
  80. @end table
  81. @section Advanced options
  82. @table @option
  83. @item -pix_fmt @var{format}
  84. Set pixel format.
  85. This option has been deprecated in favor of private options, try -pixel_format.
  86. @item -stats
  87. Print several playback statistics, in particular show the stream
  88. duration, the codec parameters, the current position in the stream and
  89. the audio/video synchronisation drift. It is on by default, to
  90. explicitly disable it you need to specify @code{-nostats}.
  91. @item -bug
  92. Work around bugs.
  93. @item -fast
  94. Non-spec-compliant optimizations.
  95. @item -genpts
  96. Generate pts.
  97. @item -rtp_tcp
  98. Force RTP/TCP protocol usage instead of RTP/UDP. It is only meaningful
  99. if you are streaming with the RTSP protocol.
  100. @item -sync @var{type}
  101. Set the master clock to audio (@code{type=audio}), video
  102. (@code{type=video}) or external (@code{type=ext}). Default is audio. The
  103. master clock is used to control audio-video synchronization. Most media
  104. players use audio as master clock, but in some cases (streaming or high
  105. quality broadcast) it is necessary to change that. This option is mainly
  106. used for debugging purposes.
  107. @item -threads @var{count}
  108. Set the thread count.
  109. @item -ast @var{audio_stream_number}
  110. Select the desired audio stream number, counting from 0. The number
  111. refers to the list of all the input audio streams. If it is greater
  112. than the number of audio streams minus one, then the last one is
  113. selected, if it is negative the audio playback is disabled.
  114. @item -vst @var{video_stream_number}
  115. Select the desired video stream number, counting from 0. The number
  116. refers to the list of all the input video streams. If it is greater
  117. than the number of video streams minus one, then the last one is
  118. selected, if it is negative the video playback is disabled.
  119. @item -sst @var{subtitle_stream_number}
  120. Select the desired subtitle stream number, counting from 0. The number
  121. refers to the list of all the input subtitle streams. If it is greater
  122. than the number of subtitle streams minus one, then the last one is
  123. selected, if it is negative the subtitle rendering is disabled.
  124. @item -autoexit
  125. Exit when video is done playing.
  126. @item -exitonkeydown
  127. Exit if any key is pressed.
  128. @item -exitonmousedown
  129. Exit if any mouse button is pressed.
  130. @item -codec:@var{media_specifier} @var{codec_name}
  131. Force a specific decoder implementation for the stream identified by
  132. @var{media_specifier}, which can assume the values @code{a} (audio),
  133. @code{v} (video), and @code{s} subtitle.
  134. @item -acodec @var{codec_name}
  135. Force a specific audio decoder.
  136. @item -vcodec @var{codec_name}
  137. Force a specific video decoder.
  138. @item -scodec @var{codec_name}
  139. Force a specific subtitle decoder.
  140. @item -autorotate
  141. Automatically rotate the video according to presentation metadata. Set by
  142. default, use -noautorotate to disable.
  143. @end table
  144. @section While playing
  145. @table @key
  146. @item q, ESC
  147. Quit.
  148. @item f
  149. Toggle full screen.
  150. @item p, SPC
  151. Pause.
  152. @item a
  153. Cycle audio channel in the current program.
  154. @item v
  155. Cycle video channel.
  156. @item t
  157. Cycle subtitle channel in the current program.
  158. @item c
  159. Cycle program.
  160. @item w
  161. Cycle video filters or show modes.
  162. @item s
  163. Step to the next frame.
  164. Pause if the stream is not already paused, step to the next video
  165. frame, and pause.
  166. @item left/right
  167. Seek backward/forward 10 seconds.
  168. @item down/up
  169. Seek backward/forward 1 minute.
  170. @item page down/page up
  171. Seek to the previous/next chapter.
  172. or if there are no chapters
  173. Seek backward/forward 10 minutes.
